No stranger to open water, Alan Morelli, the CEO of Optimis, successfully organized a swim across the Strait of Gibraltar in 2010. He and five other swimmers set the record for the largest group to make the 12.7-mile, open-water crossing in one day. Driven by a desire to inspire and educate others on how to experience true wellness, this dedicated CEO has competed in many open water swims and dozens of triathlons, including Ironman and ITU long course racing, several national championships and world championships.
Alan repeated the crossing in 2015. This time, rather than swimming in the company of elite swimmers and Olympians like Ky Hurst and Brendan Capell, as he did in 2010, he led three fellow OptimisCorp executives as part of a test of the optimumMe platform. Each swimmer’s cardiovascular and musculoskeletal fitness were assessed using the optimumHEART and optimumSTART assessments, respectively. They then spent roughly three months following training plans individually customized based on those assessments, ensuring that they were safely prepared to conquer the treacherous, ultra-distance swim challenge.
